Laser application in dentistry
The most advanced BIOLASE laser system for teeth whitening, with a program for sensitive teeth, offers numerous advantages over previous methods. It is important to know that most dental offices do not use lasers but rather light lamps.
The BIOLASE laser that we use sends the released energy to specific particles in the whitening gel, which activates the reaction much faster than light systems. This is why laser teeth whitening is significantly faster, and consequently, the risk of tooth sensitivity and painful side effects is reduced.
We also use the same laser every day for root canal treatments, surgical procedures such as gingivectomy, crown lengthening, frenectomy, all without the need to suture the wound. Light lamps, aside from whitening teeth, do not have these capabilities. This is why BIOLASE, which we use, is the most well-known brand in the United States.
BIOLASE laser application
Lasers have found their application in dentistry both in cosmetic dentistry and in soft tissue guided regeneration.
With the laser, the following interventions are possible: soft tissue reshaping (correction of a “gummy smile”), preparing the gums for prosthetic work without the use of sutures, non-contact depigmentation of pockets, circumcision of teeth (both wisdom teeth and milk teeth), gingivectomy, gum contouring for better aesthetics to ensure that future crowns are of equal length, implant opening and formation of the sulcus for future prosthetic restoration, treatment of canker sores and herpes, sensitivity of tooth roots, treatment of periodontal pockets, root canal therapy, frenectomy, teeth whitening, and more.
The true benefit of laser treatments is the painlessness of the procedure. You can also expect long-term results. When used in surgical interventions, there is no need for sutures, which prevents the accumulation of dental plaque that could complicate wound healing and compromise the therapeutic success.
The Biolase laser with a 10w power and a 940nm wavelength effectively sterilizes the area and creates excellent conditions for tissue repair and regeneration.
Advantages of laser teeth whitening over other methods:
- More than two times faster procedure
- 3-9 shades lighter color
- Ability to whiten sensitive teeth
